Distinguished Prof. George Christou’s research group is part of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Florida, located in Gainesville, FL. This is a synthetic, bioinorganic and physical inorganic chemistry group. Dr. Christou is affiliated with the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory and the UF Center for Catalysis.

Our research interests are focused on molecular metal-oxo cluster compounds of 3d transition metals and lanthanides, and their relevance to various areas such as molecular nanoscience, molecular magnetism, supramolecular chemistry, and catalysis. We like to synthesize new compounds and study them by various spectroscopic and physical techniques, such as NMR, electrochemistry, and magnetochemistry. Our several projects can accommodate students with various interests and backgrounds, and our group has always been very international.
